The system

Four layers. Each one measures what the others can't.

Stacked signal model
Layer 1
Real-world task
48h · async
Weight
40
  • Reads a brief and finds the real goal
  • Ships output a teammate could actually use
  • Reasons from the user, not the rubric
Why this layer: Day-three-on-the-job work, not leetcode. The most predictive single signal in the entire system.
Layer 2
Soft-skills video
5–10 min
Weight
25
  • Explains thinking out loud, without rehearsal
  • Listens to constraints instead of ignoring them
  • Coachable under critique
Why this layer: Technical talent gets the interview. Communication and humility get the offer.
Layer 3
Setup & environment
async check
Weight
20
  • Stable internet, working webcam, sharable screen
  • Comfortable in modern collab tools
  • Operates without hand-holding
Why this layer: Remote-first is the default. We pre-clear the small frictions that quietly cost teams hours.
Layer 4
Live round
30 min · synchronous
Weight
40
  • Thinks under real-time pressure
  • Asks sharp questions, not waiting for instructions
  • Curious, not performative
Why this layer: The last filter. Async polish is one thing. How you show up live is the other.

Credentials

Three tiers. No ambiguity.

Your score maps directly to one of three badges portable, verifiable, and visible on every company-facing surface.

E
Elite
Top 1% · 95 – 125

Exceptional across every layer. The rare hire teams reorganise to make room for.

V
Verified
Gold standard · 70 – 94

Cleared the bar. Ships meaningful work from week one, with no hand-holding.

R
Rising
High potential · 50 – 69

Sharp instincts with clear gaps. A high-growth bet worth securing early.

Below 50: no badge issued. Not a judgement  the profile simply doesn't yet meet the standard we're willing to stand behind. Reapplication welcome after 3 months.

Hold yourself to the standard.

One assessment. One credential. Portable across every application you'll ever send.

Questions, answered straight

No fine print. Just answers.

The honest version of how PromptIntern works, why it costs you nothing, and what the catch isn't.

PromptIntern is a verified hiring platform for internships. Instead of trusting a résumé full of self-reported claims, every intern proves their skills through four real rounds a hands-on task, a soft-skills video, a setup check, and a live interview  and earns a public, verifiable profile. For interns, that badge is proof you can actually do the work. For employers, it's a shortlist where the skills are already checked. No guesswork on either side.
Because charging the people trying to prove themselves is backwards. Interns usually have the least money and the most to prove  a paywall in front of a verification round would filter for who can pay, not who can perform. So applying, getting verified, and earning your badge costs interns nothing.
Three honest reasons: The value is in the signal, not the toll  a verification network only works if enough good people are in it, and fees shrink the pool. We'd rather earn trust first  we're new, and asking interns to pay before we've proven the badge opens doors would be asking for faith we haven't earned. It keeps us honest  when interns aren't the customer, we're not tempted to pass everyone to keep revenue flowing. The badge stays meaningful because nobody bought it.

  3. 3

  4. 4

From the hiring side, not the talent side. Employers pay for premium access  faster search, richer analytics, and tools built on a pre-vetted pool. The people who save money and time by hiring verified interns fund it. Interns get the badge free. Companies pay for the shortlist.
Rising: passed the skills screen, on the way up. Verified: identity, work, and scores all checked out. Elite: top scores across all four rounds. Tiers aren't bought or self-assigned; they come from how you performed.
No catch on the intern side. Getting verified and applying stays free  that's the promise, not a launch promo. Any future paid extras for interns (coaching, priority review) will be clearly optional, and core verification will never sit behind them.
Yes. No "we'll be in touch" then six weeks of silence. You get a clear yes or no within 24 hours, and real feedback at each round. A person reads every submission.
